Aya Triada Greek Orthodox Church
Located in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, just steps away from Taksim Square, the Aya Triada Greek Orthodox Church is one of the largest and most prominent Greek Orthodox churches in the city. Opened for worship in 1880, the church combines elements of Byzantine and Neoclassical architecture, featuring twin bell towers and a striking central dome. It holds a significant place in the religious and cultural life of Istanbul’s Greek Orthodox community.
The name “Aya Triada” means “Holy Trinity” in Greek, symbolizing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in Christian belief. The interior is adorned with elegant icons, frescoes, and marble details, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich traditions of Orthodox Christianity. Today, the church remains active for both worship and visitation, standing as a powerful symbol of Istanbul’s multicultural heritage.
